Assembly Hall and Hollington Centre Refurbishment Plans
The College has updated plans and progress for the refurbishment and building around 6th form study and The Hollington centre and The Old Assembly Hall. Plans include new library, study areas and even a modern cafe so students and staff can sip a cafe late between lessons and studying! We are guesing this area makes for a good meeting point for parent visits also. Here are the updates for each area.
The ‘Old’ Assembly Hall
Reconfiguration and refurbishment to provide 6 new classrooms, 2 new seminar rooms, a brand new state of the art library, study room, office areas, external landscaping and a contemporary new glazed gallery providing superb views of Lavington Park and beyond.
Full refurbishment and reconfiguration to provide new Sixth Form Centre including new study & social areas, sports showers / changing facilities and a new Seaford Café Bar delivering an adult coffee shop environment for students and weekend hospitality.
A brand new Year 11 Common Room, dedicated Tuck Shop and Bag Drop areas.
Phase 1: Assembly Hall refurbishment and provision of new temporary Sixth Form study and
Year 11 social environments.
July – December 2018
Insertion of a new mezzanine floor in the ‘old’ Assembly Hall; replacement fenestration; landscaping; and addition of a new glazed gallery. Creation of a new library, provision of new study spaces and 2 new seminar rooms.
In lieu of creating 4 of the 6 classrooms on the ground floor from the outset, we will be creating temporary Sixth Form and Year 11 social areas. These areas will be furnished and facilitated to a high standard providing superb environments for the pupil & student social and relaxation time. The all new Library on the mezzanine floor will also be fully furnished to provide study and quiet reading spaces.
Phase 2: Temporary Sixth Form and Year 11 relocation.
Relocation of Sixth Form and Year 11 to the new temporary arrangement, furnished and facilitated to an exceptionally high standard to provide much improved environment for the Spring term, vacating and enabling the refurbishment of the existing Hollington Centre.
Phase 3: Hollington Centre refurbishment
December 2018 to April 2019
New Sixth Form study and social open areas, replacement fenestration and creation of the new Seaford Café Bar and brand new state of the art changing facilities. New Sixth Form dedicated Study Room created within the first floor.
New enlarged Year 11 social area with dedicated Tuck Shop and office accommodation
Phase 4: Completion
Relocation of Sixth Form and Year 11 into the all new accommodation and facilities within the Hollington Centre
Completion of final ground floor internal works to deliver 4 new classrooms in the ‘old’ Assembly Hall to final model of Seaford College’s exciting new Teaching & Learning building.
