We have heard from OSGS Skipper Nick Tull leading up to The Finals next week. Nick tells us the team is all booked in to local hotels, they are excited and looking forward to the finals beginning with a practice day on Thursday 28th Sept' at Royal West Norfolk Golf Club. Captain Nick Tull, Max Farrant, Will Gilsenan, Tim Banks, John Wheatley & Kieron Russell make up our team. Neal Fox will join the team to support, sadly Neal (official handicap of 2 and part of the qualifying team) cannot play in the finals as his injured arm has only just recently had the cast removed. The new OSGS team kit has arrived and looks splendid. We can't see any new jumpers so we trust The Indian Summer will kick in soon !
Royal West Norfolk GC, otherwise known as Brancaster, faces The North Sea and being open links style and flat, it is susceptible to strong winds regularly clocking in at an average of 50MPH ! The course is ranked 18th best course in England and 44th best in The UK. Bearing in mind in England, Hillside is ranked 19th and Wentworth 26th... the boys should be looking forward to this great test against strong opposition.
The course is a traditional out and back links, with huge sleeper-backed bunkers and fast greens. The 3rd hole is possibly one of the best links holes in The UK. One drives out over the tidal 'Mow Creek' in order to be best positioned for your 2nd to the raised green. Not for the faint hearted. Nick's pairings will be aired before play and we hope to update you on progress next Friday 29th Sept when the tournament begins. Supporters welcome should you be living in the area.
Best of luck to our team, 'strength & honour' and all that!
